
Elderberry Syrup Recipe
1. Combine one cup of elderberries with two cups of distilled water in a pot and bring to a boil.
2. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 40 minutes
3. Remove from heat and steep for 1 hour
4. If elderberries are still hot after 1 hour, wait an additional 30 minutes or until warm
5. CAREFULLY strain elderberry liquid using a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth, or chlorine free muslin bag into a separate clean pot
6. Once elderberry liquid has cooled, add 2 cups of honey and stir until throughly mixed
7. Pour the elderberry syrup into a mason jar or amber glass bottle, close tightly with lid.
Your elderberry syrup is now ready for use.
Elderberry syrup should be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
